Primary Objective:

The role of a Resident Medical Officer is to provide patient care under the direction and direct supervision of the treating Specialist Clinician responsible for the patient's care. PGY2 residency, is a period of mandatory supervised general clinical experience in accordance with AMC training requirements. Services are provided across NT Health Top End Region, including rural hospitals in Katherine and Nhulunbuy. PGY2 residents will be assigned rotational allocations that fulfil the AMC training framework requirements. The primary responsibilities of the Resident Medical Officer are to provide, the initial assessment of the patient upon admission, daily progress assessment of the patient, ensure communication with the senior medical staff and other members of the team providing care to the patient and deliver co-ordination and facilitation of diagnosis, management and discharge planning for the patient. Under appropriate supervision the following skills will be developed - diagnostic skills, communication skills, management skills, therapeutic and procedural skills, and professionalism. Several fixed vacancies are available working in Darwin and Palmerston.
