Primary Objective:
School counsellors (social workers and psychologists) work within a Multi-tiered System of Support framework to build the capacity of educators to support students to maximise their educational outcomes. School Counsellors provide support to schools to improve the wellbeing and safety of students through evidence-based interventions. Consultation, planning, and short term individual supports are provided to address student behaviour, wellbeing and social emotional concerns that may be having a direct impact on educational outcomes. Several vacancies are available in various locations throughout the Northern Territory. Selection will be made at the P1 or P2 level depending on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.

Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services (SWIPS) is seeking early career social workers and psychologists who are committed to supporting the wellbeing and inclusion of NT students. Charles Darwin University graduate entry social workers / psychologists who receive a Final Year Higher Education Scholarship will receive financial support (subject to successful completion of their studies and pre-employment checks) and permanent employment as a School Counsellor. The School Counsellor is an essential position providing professional expertise and evidence-based practices to build educators' capacity and understanding of student wellbeing and safety. This is a front-line position working with young people and schools to improve the wellbeing and safety of students.
